Joining The Threads

We aim to join and illustrate the historical and epidemiological insights by creating a map of the evolution of foodscapes using geographic information systems (GIS). We aim to capture our identified temporal-spatial transformations of foodscapes, gender disparities and their related health impact by layering our pilot research findings onto historical and contemporary city maps. The map could show, for instance, that certain parts of the cities have historically suffered from restricted access to healthy foods and land, and guide policymakers towards differentiated action or programmes such as planning for community gardens.
